First Course: 8 Weeks of Support, Clarity, and Growth for Carers of People with BPD

Caring for someone with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is not like any other kind of caring. It’s a rollercoaster of intense emotions, unpredictable behaviour, and constant worry. You might be feeling exhausted, confused, or even hopeless at times—and you’re not alone.

This 8-week course is a lifeline for carers like you. Whether you’re a parent, sibling, partner, or close friend, you’ll find a safe, supportive space to learn, reflect, and rebuild your strength. The course has been designed by carers, for carers, drawing directly from lived experience. There’s no clinical jargon and no judgement—just practical tools, emotional insight, and the support you need to survive and thrive.

Each week, we focus on a key theme that matters to carers: understanding BPD, navigating crisis moments, setting boundaries, managing guilt, coping with anger, handling rejection, and—most importantly—caring for yourself. The course blends personal stories, practical exercises, group discussions (optional), and downloadable tools to help you make real change.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Respond to emotional outbursts and self-harm without escalating conflict
  • Set healthy boundaries without guilt
  • Communicate in ways that reduce tension and build trust
  • Manage your own stress, burnout, and emotional triggers
  • Reconnect with your values and rebuild a sense of self outside your caring role

Whether your loved one is in treatment or refusing help, this course will meet you where you are. It’s not about fixing them—it’s about helping you cope, feel stronger, and make decisions with clarity and compassion.

Join us for 8 weeks that could change the way you care—and the way you live.

Advanced Carer Course: Deepening Connection Through Mentalisation

This advanced 6-week course builds on the foundations of our 8-week carer programme and is designed for those ready to go deeper. If you’ve started to find your footing as a carer and want to strengthen your relationships while maintaining your own emotional balance, this course is your next step.

At its heart is the concept of mentalisation—the ability to understand your own thoughts, feelings, and intentions, as well as those of others. For carers of people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), mentalisation can be life-changing. It offers a way to stay grounded, reduce conflict, and build more meaningful, stable connections with your loved one—even during difficult moments.

Throughout the course, we’ll explore how to interpret behaviour without jumping to conclusions, how to stay curious instead of reactive, and how to navigate intense relational dynamics with calm and clarity. We’ll also look at how your own experiences, history, and emotions shape your reactions—and how to work with that, not against it.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Use mentalisation to reduce misunderstandings and emotional escalation
  • Recognise and respond to emotional withdrawal, blame, and splitting
  • Balance empathy with self-protection in your caring relationship
  • Handle moments when your loved one can’t mentalise—and what to do instead
  • Strengthen your emotional insight without getting overwhelmed
  • Build more secure, respectful and compassionate relationships

This course blends short readings, guided reflection exercises, real-life scenarios, and optional group discussion. While it draws from the therapeutic framework of Mentalisation-Based Treatment (MBT), it’s designed to be accessible, practical, and grounded in everyday family life.

If you’re ready to stop just surviving and start reconnecting, this course offers a path forward—based on understanding, not fixing.
